About us

About Glen Appin of Scotland: Our Story

Bulloch, Cowell & Co was originally formed as a cloth manufacturer and converter in 1903. By the 1960s, the company had entered the Scottish gift and textile market and introduced the Glen Appin of Scotland brand in 1968. Since then, all products have been sold under this name.
The Glen Appin brand image and logo were refreshed in 2012 after Christopher and Diane Slater purchased the business. By 2014, the brand had become more widely recognised than the original company name, leading to a formal rebrand as Glen Appin of Scotland Limited.
Today, Glen Appin is known throughout the UK and internationally as a supplier of high-quality Scottish gifts and textiles. Our distinctive Highland Cow logo is proudly stocked in a wide variety of retail settings — from small village shops to historic castles.
After many years in Albion Street, Glasgow, and then Govan, we moved in 2020 to our current home in East Kilbride. From our 25,000 sq ft warehouse and showroom, our experienced and long-standing team continues to run Glen Appin as a family business.

From Wholesale to Retail

Glen Appin has traditionally operated as a wholesale-only business, supplying independent retailers across the UK and abroad. As our product range grew, we created this retail website to offer end-of-line pieces directly to customers.
For example, if only 27 bags remain in a particular colour — too few for wholesale orders — we offer them here. These products are made to the same high standard and now available directly from us. We're excited to open this new chapter and hope you enjoy discovering unique pieces that may not be available in shops.
